Fixing My Credit Score

Our last blog post helped you calculate how much money you’d save with a better credit score. We can see how important it is to have and maintain a good credit score. This information is especially important for young people with disabilities as they may be working with a tighter budget.

Beginning the Lesson

  1. Read Page 110. This explains the five things credit bureaus look at when calculating your credit rating.

  2. Use the following page to analyze what steps you might take to improve your credit score.

  3. Explore Credit Karma or other apps that might help you keep track of your score.

And, while the lessons in this blog can stand alone, they work best when paired with the Financial Literacy course from Susan Traugh’s Transition 2 Life curriculum. This one-semester course is offered in both a special education edition and a companion text for general education students. Find it here.
